Alexandria Jujitsu Dojo

Community Oriented Self Defense

Kathy Patrick and Tony Lower-Basch teach Budoshin Jujitsu (practical self-defense) for adults at the Alexandria YMCA, three times a week. Anyone who attends will learn the basics of Jujitsu: how to avoid and redirect an attack and how to control an attacker by applying your strengths against the attacker's weaknesses. Students and teachers will discuss the ethics of when to apply force, as well as the laws of the land and how they view self-defense.

At the Alexandria Budoshin Jujitsu Dojo, you will learn powerful responses to the attacks you are most likely to encounter in real life, such as muggings and aggressive brawlers. But more importantly, you will be encouraged to discover what parts of the gentle art are most powerful for you, and you will begin to develop your own unique style of self-defense.

Classes are wide open to observers. Right now our class size is low, so everyone gets plenty of hands on instruction with our two teachers. Get in on the chance before it slips away.

Come on in, watch us do our thing and maybe even participate yourself: that is absolutely the best way for you to find out whether the class is something that you want to make a part of your life.
